US Mint, Denver: A site unmissed!

The worth visiting and experiencing destination within a splendid location, Denver is the US Mint. It is the place whereby a visitor can experience the art of coin making. Its foundation dates back in the history to 1863. It is capable of producing 50 millions of coining entities in a single day. The manufactured coins are distributed throughout the United States with the authorizing circulation by the Federal Reserve Banks. They process gold and silver bullions as well. It is one of the six minting facilities in the United States. After its foundations were kept in 1863, the gold was discovered after five years in the surroundings. Denver mint uses the D mint mark and circulates coinages meant only for currency purposes.

There are free tours organized for the Denver & the Philadelphia mints. The mints restore the present art of manufacturing and the history of the coin manufacturing and the mint too. There are lessons on the craftsmanship required in designing and molding the metal into a coin. It has all to offer to ranges of age groups from young kids to the youth and to the adults. Facilities are available for the oldies and physically challenged personnel to ease their visit to the mint. The mint staff has prepared the virtual tours educating about making, selling and circulation of the coins around the United States describing the processes involved and letting you through the engraving rooms and the production floors. These options are not meant for replication of actual doings but to demonstrate the same.

Denver’s Botanic!

Denver seems to have the scientific aptitude as along with the Museum for Nature & Sciences, it also holds the Botanic Gardens splendidly maintained for peoples view and knowledge offerings. It is located nearby the north of Cherry Creek Shopping Centre in the York Street. It is standing at its place since last fifty years and moving a step ahead from being just a tourist attraction, it held’s the plant conservation and natural well being in its primary motives. It is spanning 23 acres of land with the arts and sciences blooming on it. It supports a live library consortium for plant based researches and education programs and the flora conservation as well. They have been relying on the donations from visitors and states and private authorities. They have several gardens on offer to visitors for inspirational, academic, educational and exciting experiences. Denver Botanic Gardens support the plant varieties in diversity from around the globe. Due to its wonderful geography of high altitude and mild climate, it is able to support the diversity in distinctive gardens in varied areas. Along with the display of fine varieties, they do have drought tolerant species and adapted flora in store. Denver Botanic Gardens are a follower of the European horticultural tradition which when blended with the current plant diversity and designs renders the best of the horticultural surrounding thriving in York Street today. A recent effort of building a green roof has been executed recently by the gardens authorities which is also a visitors attraction.

Denver’s Climate: a milder experience

Denver is a city of surprise for a tourist or a visitor as it is what it claims to be and in fact much more than that. Being a modern town, it has on display a united cultural community’s platform with diverse ethnicity to enthusiast levels. Next add on is the climate it offers. Whenever a plan is on execution to plan for a destination to go out for vacations and spend some time with your family and friends and the loved ones, the weather of the place to be visited matters a lot. The climate of this place is semi arid and continental kinds with quarterly distributed seasons. Denver’s weather sometimes goes unpredictable due to its geographical set up. It is surrounded by Rocky Mountains to its west. The temperature range for this wonderful place ranges between 10 degrees to 18 degrees. The average rainfall received per year by the Denver land is around 16 inches. The sunshine average goes to about 300 days per year i.e. 3100 hours of sunshine. The snow falls in winters but is not retained on the ground for a long times thus creating options for open ground recreations like golf, football grounds, open cafes remain open for public (the visitors) almost throughout the year. This in all serves as a fun filled, sun filled, goodie – goodie cool experience of warm and mild weather in the midst of mountains around. Offering a milder climate, this city of Denver has been righteously known as the “mild and mile high city”!

Honeymoon in Denver for an Historical Stay

One of the best things about getting married is the honeymoon. If the couple can afford it and have time, Denver, Colorado is the place to go. They have several very nice hotels that are mid-range in price, but five star service seems to be what all the customer testimonials say.

The Denver Magnolia Hotel is quaint, and right in the heart of downtown Denver. They serve more than the usual fare in their free breakfasts. There’s free beer and wine during happy hour, and then there’s a free cookies and a milk bar before bed time. The rooms are small but clean, comfy and private. Make sure to write postcards and send them home so everyone can see how much fun you are having as a married couple.

Three miles from downtown Denver, the renovated JW Marriott Hotel at Cherry Creek is a nice place to stay and it‘s pet friendly. It’s the only Denver hotel listed in Conde Nast Traveler and it’s very near the Pepsi Center, Mile High Stadium and the Coors Field. The rooms are clean and they include wireless Internet service, too. Inside, the Second Home Kitchen and bar serves casual breakfast, lunch and dinner with comfort food classics.

Hotel Teatro in Denver has early check-in and late checkout times. It’s downtown and the beds are described as fluffy like a cloud. There are lots of places to eat, including the hotel, and shopping is just a few steps away. The building is a historical marker and it has an interesting history that goes with it. Bath tubs are deep and meant for soaking and the valet parking makes the stay easy.

The Denver Zoo: an exemplary of natural habitat!

Denver has a range of gardens, parks and zoos for purposes of frolicking and educational means as well. The tourism is mainly the family group whereby the satisfaction and entertainment of kids is at prime. Thus, the varieties of gardens in Denver have much to offer for adults and the kids both.

Commencing our journey from the Denver Zoo, located amidst the city in the city park, it is spread on huge land area of around 80 acres and houses more than 4,000 wildlife elements ranging to over 650 fauna species. The origin of the zoo dates back to 1896 when a black bear named Billy Bryan was the first animal of this splendid habitat. With its development and natural beauty, it is one of the most famous zoos in America. Plans are to convert it into a conservation center aiming to preserve the endangered species, due to its huge area inhabiting a large number of wildlife. It is visited by over 1.6 million visitors in a year. Attraction to most is the famous rhino, Mshindi, who pants using a brush in the Pachyderm House! You can spot the world attention grabbed hand – raised polar cubs, Klondike & Snow. The zoo works on the environmental sustainability which can be known from the natural gas powered zoo train. Inhabiting Wildlife includes black rhinos, king cobras, zebras, gorillas, elephants, vampire bats, coral reef fishes, and much more. The attempt towards conservation has been made effective with the development of habitats like Tropical Discovery, Predator Ridge, to offer the species a natural habitat for survival.  It is run with the aid from co – operative foundations of states and privates funding for it’s know – how’s and emerging it as a splendid arena in the Denver’s exotic city Park.

Denver Biking Trails

Biking enthusiasts love Denver. This progressive city has more than 850 miles of paved bike trails connected to hundreds of miles of dirt trails – perfect for mountain bike adventures.

Trails have been planned for all experience levels, so everyone from families to the most experienced bikers can plan a budget friendly vacation.

The Greenway Trail is a 30 mile paved trail along the South Platte River. Most of Denver’s early history was centered in the area, and there are many historical markers along the trail. The trail ends at Chatfield State Recreation Area, a huge park with horseback riding, swimming, and sailing.

The Cherry Creek Trail is one of the most popular trails from Denver along Cherry Creek. The bike path goes directly behind the Cherry Creek Shopping District with 500 stores, galleries, and restaurants.

Four mile House and Historic Park, site of a stagecoach stop and the oldest structure in Denver is a good rest area along Cherry Creek Trail. The trail also leads to Cherry Creek Recreation Area, one of Denver’s largest lakes with camping, boating, swimming, and picnic areas.

Clear Creek Bike Path is a paved, 20-mile urban adventure to Golden, Colorado. Golden was Colorado’s first capital city. The quaint town is filled with Western stores, outdoor cafes, and restaurants. The Miller Coors brewery is nearby.

The Colorado Railroad Museum is just off the Clear Creek Bike Path. The museum displays 50 locomotives and exhibits about the narrow gauge railroads so important to Colorado’s history.

Green Mountain, North Table Mountain, and South Table Mountain are three buttes that offer more challenging mountain bike trails. The trails are rocky and steep, but the view at the top is worth the effort.

Vacation or “stay-cation” Denver biking trails are a bargain. The spectacular views, mild summer climate, and cultural activities make for an unforgettable family adventure.

Denver’s Professional Sports

Denver is like heaven for sports fans. The city boasts of seven professional teams- family fun for locals and visitors alike.

The Nation Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche play their regular season (October to April) at the Pepsi Center. If you have ever wanted to see an arena go from hockey ice to basketball floor or explore a real backstage, guided tours are available.

The popular Denver Broncos play professional football at Invesco Field. The preseason starts in August and the regular season runs from September to January. Enthusiastic orange and blue clad fans fill the stadium – check ticket availability early.

Denver has two professional Lacrosse teams – the Colorado Mammoths play their home games from December to April at the Pepsi Center. The Denver Outlaws’ season is May through August and they play at Invesco field. If you are not familiar with this fast moving game, it is an intense experience!

The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club plays their regular schedule from April to October at Coors Field. Tours of the dugout, club level, and press level are available, but reservations must be made three weeks in advance.

The Denver Nuggets play NBA basketball at the Pepsi Center from late October or November to April. Rocky the Mountain Lion, the team’s official mascot, entertains at every game. He is best known for his daring acrobatics and irreverent attitude.

In addition, the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer Club play from March to November at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park – the largest soccer stadium in the world. After 15 years in Denver, the Rapids won the 2010 Major League Soccer Championship Cup.

Denver offers many family attractions from the arts to outdoor sports. Die hard sports fans or those just interested in a new experience and a stadium hot dog will find year around professional sports opportunities watching some of the finest teams in the country.
